This time we took care of the Professor figure in the game. To make his face even scarier, we implemented special yellow led eyes in his head, which are connected to the left and right globe flashers. In the test menu, they are referenced as "Frankenstein Flashers" (2)". This means that when the LED flashers are enabled, the LED eyes will also automatically flash and even have the fade effect.

Monster Bash Shooter Lane Lightning Bolt Mod

This time we took care of the shooter lane. Having a closer look to that area, we see the long plastic on the left side with some printed flashes on it and below are the 4 blue bulbs, so we wanted to highlight that place a little bit more. One thought was to turn the bulbs on and off in sequence, but the problem was timing and also the effect itself, which was not really great. After some brainstorming, Dominik decided to look for an LED stripe, which could fulfill our needs:

The stripe must have the correct length to be nearly exactly as long as the plastic

The stripe must have the correct width so that the ball will not hit the LEDs

The stripe must very well be fixed so that it will never change its position

The stripe must be stable enough for the shooter lane

The light must be strong enough so that the effect will be good seen
Not easy to accomplish all these requirements, but after Dominik ordered and tested a bunch of LED stripes and brackets, he found the best combination, which nearly satisfied all conditions. Only the position of the LEDs where a little bit too much in the shooter lane, so Dominik resoldered every single LED into the middle of the stripe. To protect the stripe of any pinball hits and also to get a nice blue light, he put the stripe into a plastic sleeve. With that, the first challenge was completed.
The second challenge was the technical design: Where to get the electricity for the stripe and how to switch it ? We only had as an electricity source the 6,3 volts alternate current (G.I.) or the 12 volts direct current where the voltage itself is not allowed to exceed the specification of the stripe...that was the reason why we have blown one stripe..:-). In the end, he decided to use the G.I. voltage, but to be able to use this source, a custom pcb had to be created which has to adopt the power for the stripe. For switching the LEDs, he installed another switch just parallel to the shooter lane switch, which controls on one hand the mod and on the other hand the 4 blue bulbs under the plastic, which means: Is the mod on, the 4 bulbs are off and vice versa.
After some tests in different situations and also a long time test, this mod is finally finished und demonstrates again very well, how much know-how and work is inside such a mod.

Monster Bash Audio Flasher Kit

We already created an Audio Flasher Kit for the lovely Cactus Canyon pinball machine and thought to also include this effect for the Monster Bash. Our goal was not to just "copy & paste" the idea, but more creating a good variation which additionally must fit to the overall theme of the pinball. The result is this nicely Audio Flasher Kit, where we are using ultraviolet LED rings instead of the normal ones. In the middle of the form, we painted some flashes in an ultraviolet color, which can only be seen when the ring is flashing. This effect gets activated when the 2 electicity flasher domes are running with which they are directly connected. We also changed the standard flasher lamps inside the purple plastic domes and replaced them with LED ones because we think that the color fits better than original bulbs.
The icing on the cake is the Monster Bash Topper which also glows in ultra-violet light and makes this overall picture perfect.
